He started his career in medicine by earning his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University. He then went on to complete his internship at Baylor University Medical Center, and his residencies in surgery and urology at UT Southwestern Medical School, Parkland Hospital in Dallas. In practice since 1982, he is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU).

Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate education at Baylor University in Waco, TX, in 1972. He attained board certification in urology with the American Board of Urology.
